Completed in 1933 as a memorial to the Freemasons who died during the First World War, the grade II listed Freemasons’ Hall in the heart of Covent Garden is known as one of the finest art-deco buildings in the world. “The area we are in tonight is the main art deco part of the building, complete with a shrine dedicated to those who died,” explains Head of Events Karen Haigh. “This room is used by the Masons for really big meetings; they come in here and proceed through to the 1700 seater auditorium through the huge doors.”
Far from being a stranger to the world of fashion, the Freemasons’ Hall has already hosted shows for the likes of Julien Macdonald and Giles Deacon. “We’re really enjoying having Vauxhall Fashion Scout here,” Karen told us. “Yesterday we had an open house so 2500 visitors came through our doors at the same time as the four fashion shows we were running. I think it has totally worked and I hope Vauxhall Fashion Scout thinks the same.”
