Exhibition designers: Charlotte Taylor

Showcasing in the main exhibition room at Vauxhall Fashion Scout, Charlotte Taylor is a name to watch. Her latest AW10 collection is inspired by grannies near her home on The Isle of Wight.

Her collection is feminine in style but not over-the-top pretty, a boyish elegance not too revealing in design can be worn by all ages.

With a background in architecture, the accuracy in her design and construction is evident in the sharp tailoring. The penguin prints add colour to a predominantly dark hued winter collection and the paneled segments add edge.

Featuring contrasting textures of lightweight linen and dark green herringbone tweed, Taylor’s designs are all about the cut and shape on the female form creating simple pieces with added eccentricity.

Taylor has a fantastic blog offering young designers the chance to see how a collection is produced and documenting her day to day life of setting up a label. It makes for very interesting reading.
