Camilla Bruerberg + Fashion 156.com

Last seasons talented Ones To Watch MEN designer Camilla Bruerberg is this weeks guest contributor for Fashion156.com.

On Monday, the Norwegian designer was interviewed by Susan Walsh, indulging in her Ones To Watch MEN experience, spilling the beans on her desire to reinterpret her favourite childhood game into a fashion presentation and how she will love to dress Robin, Batman´s wingman. But this is only an appetizer for Camilla´s stint as guest contributor...

Throughout the week, Camilla discusses her experimental approach to knitwear and crochet and expresses her willingness to work with new materials including leather working, felting, Holographic print, weaving, and plastic moulding.

Edward Finney, best CV at Grazia´s Fash Factor

29 year old designer Edward Finney has grabbed the attention of Grazia HQ.

We announced, in a last minute post on Monday the Grazia Fash Factor Award, and were delighted that some of Vauxhall Fashion Scout´s designers made it to the auditions.

As the Fash Factor Awards drew to a close, VFS designer Edward Finney, who has shown with us for two consecutive seasons, made the final cut and was featured in Grazia Daily.

Edward´s story captured the attention of the panelists which included Grazia´s Editos Jane Bruton, Jonathan Saunders, Caren Downie from ASOS, Henry Holland, and Jackie Dixon from ShowMeYourWardrobe.com, with his black feather cocktail Black Swan inspired dress. And the CSM designer has an impressive CV to boot, working at No 19 Savile Row, Eley Kishimoto, Alexander McQueen and was the Assistant Designer for John Galliano in Paris for 4 years.

The talented designers audition story, covering his journey to the auditions, to his professional presentation (yes, he hired a proper model for the event!) and his impressive background made Edward a clear candidate for the Award.

The full article can be read here and we hope this "heart-warming story" finishes in a celebration with a printed campaign.

Well done Edward!

Iris Van Herpen Couture Paris show 2011

From lines and volumes that spread in the space to the most natural and organic structures such as a skeleton, or an insect turned couture, dutch designer Iris Van Herpen, showed her collection during Paris Fashion Week- Couture.

She created a new direction of couture that combines fine handwork techniques with futuristic digital technology , elongating the shapes and developing volumes creating new silhouettes. As she describes her own work " By bringing form, structure and  materials together in a new manner, I try to suggest and realize optimal tension and movement.”nShe forces fashion to the extreme contradiction between beauty and regeneration.

With this show she sets an statement about what she thinks about the uniqueness of woman, she wants to express  the character  and emotions extending the shape of the feminine body in detail. She mixes craftsmanship- using old and forgotten techniques- with
innovation and materials inspired on the world to come.

She believes fashion is an artistic expression, showing and wearing art, and not just a functional and devoid of content or commercial tool.

Iris  graduated from the prestigious Artez Institute of the Arts in 2006, after her studies she cultivated her skills under the watchful eyes of Viktor & Rolf and Alexander McQueen, She showed with Vauxhall Fashion Scout during February 2010 London Fashion Week.
