NEWS| Phoebe English 'Fashion Mix' on SHOWstudio

Autumn/ Winter 'Merit Award' winner, Phoebe English has one again partnered with award-winning fashion platform, SHOWstudio; though this time, in a musical-capacity. Don't let that have you believe the CSM MA graduate has downed scissors and calico in favour of a career as a musician... the young designer has in fact just contributed to SHOWstudio's "Fashion Mix" project, in which industry creatives share the tracks that inspire, and enliven them- be it personally, or pertaining to work.

You can find English's "Fashion Mix" here, including the track from her Autumn/ Winter 'Merit Award' show. To see the collection in full, and read our review, click here.

The jewellery of London based designer Kirsty Ward has been featured in the editorial of online fashion magazine, TWENTY6. With her creations taking unconventional structures with an emphasis on form, the A/W12 necklace is shot alongside pieces by Acne and Bora Aksu. NEWS| 'The Tautz Woman'- E. Tautz in Vogue

Back during Fashion Week in February, we spoke to model, and BFC ambassador, Laura Bailey about the Autumn/ Winter E. Tautz show; unsurprisingly Bailey- like us- "want[ed] everything in an extra, extra small!", and she wasn't the only one, either, with women claiming the knitwear pieces were top of their Winter wish-lists post-show.
We shared Bailey's comments with E. Tautz designer, Patrick Grant, and he had this to say:

"... I don't mind whether it's a guy, or a girl that wants it. I mean, ultimately, they're masculine pieces, but we sell knitwear to girls- we make small sizes- and we make bespoke for women in the shop."

... but what of a line dedicated to just women? Well, Grant's other half, jewellery designer Katie Hillier discussed the possibility- or more, the desire- for E. Tautz womenswear to come into fruition with British Vogue- details of which you can find online here.

Without seeming biased, we're keen to see this happen, but what do you think? Tweet us your thoughts @FashionScout, and check out the rest of our E. Tautz interview here.

NEWS| Raffaele Ascione in Papercut magazine

Raffaele Ascione’s Autumn/Winter pieces are becoming somewhat of editorial-regulars- having already been seen in POP, and Wonderland to name just a few.
This time, the VFS designer has had his work featured in a romantic, old Hollywood style shoot in Papercut magazine's June issue; his wide legged palazzo pants, and fire-brick red skirt showcasing the versatility of Ascione’s pieces.

You can check out the remaining shots on Papercut magazine’s website here.

NEWS| TO BE FRANK SS12 review by Huffington Post and Idol Mag

Showcasing her Spring/Summer 2013 collection at the London Collections, menswear designer Frank Phillips kicked things off with a presentation celebrating simplicity and modernity with an array of bright colours.
The Ones To Watch designer sparked intrigue and praise from The Huffington Post as well as IDOL magazine, both commenting on her use of colour and unique story. A whimsical approach to the modern man’s wardrobe, IDOL Magazine took a closer look at nautical inspirations behind the collection which told the tale of Great Aunt Fifi. Using her heritage and remarkable story, Frank Phillips has picked up the elements that add nostalgia and charm to the clean-cut shapes of the collection. It’s this simplicity that The Huffington Post speaks of as pieces to be added to the staple wardrobe. A style that “tends to the sartorial need of the modern gentleman”, where a sense of utility is what is important. Whilst sock suspenders and primary colours have everyone charmed, as TOBEFRANK reminds us of the child within.

NEWS| VFS as a platform for emerging talent

Vauxhall Fashion Scout prides itself as a platform serving to promote innovative, and emerging design talent to a global audience of press, buyers, and style leaders. Having provided a springboard for now-established, and successful designers, sibling-duo Felder Felder, Giorgian-born David Koma, and print pioneers, Christopher De Vos, and Peter Pilotto, we’re aware of the importance of guiding innovative design talent in the initial stages of their careers.
We touched-base with recent alumni, and current VFS designers to find out what they’ve gained from their Freemasons showcase, and to show what future creatives can gain from applying to show with us, at Vauxhall Fashion Scout.

  • "The biggest challenge I find for a new designer is to have supportive platforms to show to an interested audience.  Bodies such as VFS help link the creation to the market.  I am also extremely grateful for these forms of exposure because it drives me and my work. " Chloe Award winner, Steven Tai
  • "They’re been super supportive. They’ve actually been contacting me since my BA- which was in 2008- and since then, they’re been at my back, and been absolutely amazing so far. I recommend any designers work with them."- Fashion Fringe semi-finalist, Raffaele Ascione
  • "I honestly wouldn't be here without Vauxhall [Fashion Scout]. To have have been lucky enough to showcase as part of House of Evolution last time, then for VFS to have selected me to come back to show my own collection, it really makes you feel like you have people that really support you."- MATH's Shahzad Mohaydin
  • "There’s modern, then there’s the quirky, and the avant-garde and Vauxhall Fashion Scout understand all these personalities, and manage to make them all work together in one showcase.”- T. Lipop
  • "A great platform for emerging young designers... it's given me great support and the Merit Award has helped kick start my career."- Merit Award Winner, Georgia Hardinge
  • "I don’t think I’d be here if it wasn’t for Vauxhall Fashion Scout. It was such a good experience, and so many doors have opened because of that show. Also, the support after- being able to talk about the production, and sales, and being advised on what to do next. VFS have been really, really, really supportive."- One to Watch, Joseph Turvey

NEWS| Georgia Hardinge featured in Vogue

Who caught a glimpse of Vauxhall Fashion Scout's designer Georgia Hardinge in July's Vogue? Her tweed shorts, from SS12, were featured in their 'Urban Angel' trend piece. Vogue states that this look is heavily focused on 'sleek silhouettes, cool metallics and graphic prints' so naturally GH was picked up for this piece.

Whilst we're talking about Ms Hardinge, why not view this video of the Wolf and Badger Dover Street launch party which features an interview with the designer herself.
